Have you locked yourself out, in your hurry to shut the door and keep the cat in? Do you regret that you did not buy an outdoor cat house and provide a safe place for the cat when it does run out?

"One of the first things I do upon arriving home each night is throw my purse, keys and cell phone on the kitchen counter and throw some food to our outdoor cat – a stray that found its way to our home last fall and has never left. But then again, once you start feeding an outside critter they tend to stick around.

And we’re okay with it as the cat is good natured and gets along well with our dog.

Because we have an indoor cat that likes to escape from time to time, we have to be very careful when opening the back door or we’ll see a black streak make its way onto the deck and to places beyond. Thankfully she doesn’t go far and comes back within a few minutes because she is spoiled rotten, but there is always that first time.

With that in mind, I closed the door after me. But this sinking feeling came over me and I immediately turned around to re-open the door and, yep, sure thing, it was locked."
